Tasmania

Separated from the mainland by the narrow but stormy waters of Bass Strait, the climate of Tasmania, Australia’s most southerly State, most closely resembles that of cooler Europe. Despite its small size, there are seven wine-growing regions that lay claim to distinct climatic and growing conditions. Tasmania now has over 60 vineyards and wineries producing some of Australia’s most outstanding cool climate wines and sparkling wines from the region deliver creamy textures and beautiful beading, created from classic varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which are the dominant grape varieties of this region. The cool climate of Tasmania results in wines of light to medium body.
