Gamay

Gamay (also known as Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc) is a purple coloured grape variety used to make red wines grown in Beaujolais and in the Loire Valley. Gamay is a vigorous vine which tends not to root very deeply in alkaline soils resulting in pronounced hydrological stress over the growing season, and with a correspondingly high level of acidity in the grapes.
