Mourvedre

Mourvedre (also known as Mataro and Monastrell) is wine grape variety used to make both strong, dark red wines and rose wines. It is an international variety grown in many regions around the world. Mourvedre is usually very late in ripening, though this can be helped by proximity to a large body of water such as the Mediterranean. The berries are medium-sized and blue/black in colour, with thick skins, which produce tannic wines that can be high in alcohol.
