Campanha
One of the most exciting up-and-coming wine regions in Brazil, Campanha is situated in the Pampas lands, south of Rio Grande do Sul in the southernmost part of Brazil bordering Uruguay. With the altitude approximately 300m above sea level the climate here is moderate with warm and dry summers averaging around 24°C, and 12°C in winter. Approximately 2,400 hectares of land is now planted to vines in mostly granite and limestone soils, and there is sufficient rainfall in the region to allow proper ripening of vines without the need for additional irrigation. Grape varieties grown in the region include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tannat, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Arinarnoua, as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Gewurztraminer.
