Ay
Ay is a town that thrives on champagne production. It is a commune in the Marne department in north-eastern France. Ay's vineyards are located in the Vallée de la Marne sub-region of Champagne, and are classified as Grand Cru (100%) in the Champagne vineyard classification. There are around 350 hectares of vines in the region, dominated by Pinot Noir, which account for around 80%. They run east, along the riverside above Mareuil-sur-Aÿ towards Mutigny and Avenay-Val-d'Or, and also to the west, towards Dizy. Many of the largest and most prestigious Champagne houses own vineyards in the immediate vicinity, and several producers are located in Ay, including Ayala and Bollinger.
