Aligote
Aligote (also known as Alligotay, Alligoté, Blanc de Troyes, Carcarone, Carchierone, Chaudenet, Giboudot Blanc, Griset Blanc, Karkarone Blank, Melon de Jura, Muhranuli, Pistone, Plant de Trois, Plant Gris, Purion Blanc, Selon Molon, Selon Odart, Troyen Blanc, Vert Blanc) is a white grape and is the third grape variety used to make dry white wines in the Burgundy region of France. However, this variety can also be found in Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Bulgaria. This grape ripens early with moderate yields and produces wines high in acidity. It is also more tolerant to the cold so is usually planted in poorer vineyard sites.
