The name means “little sweet one”. Wines produced from this grape are nearly always dry, tannic and fruity, with moderate or very low acidity levels. The grapes, which ripen mid season (late September to October) are oval in form, medium to large in size with thick dark purple skins which contain high amounts of anthocyanins to produce a dark coloured wine.
