Moselle
Moselle is the wine producing part of Luxembourg situated in the east of the country along the left-bank of the Moselle River. The vineyards are scattered around 28 towns and villages, from Wasserbillig in the north, to Schengen in the south. Vines are not allowed to be planted anywhere else, therefore Moselle Luxembourgoise is the only appellation in Luxembourg. All wines produced under this appellation must carry a Marque Nationale Appellation Contrôlée label. To obtain the Marque Nationale Appellation Contrôlée, the wine undergoes chemical analysis and blind tasting at the Institut Viti-Vinicole (IVV). Wine must score between 12 and 13.9 points out of 20 from the board of tasters. Any wine receiving less than 12 points is declassified into vin de table.
