Martinborough

Martinborough is the oldest wine area within the larger Wairarapa wine region of Wellington. The region's vineyards are planted on high alluvial terraces with deep stony and free draining soils south of New Zealand’s North Island. Pinot Noir is Martinborough’s most respected wine: its elegance and style has given the region an international standing. However, the region is also gaining a good reputation for the production of elegant full-flavoured Chardonnay, aromatic Riesling and mellow Syrah with several promising vintages.
