Hampshire

The soil structure in Hampshire is a mixture of chalk, gravel and clay with an excellent mineral content and good drainage, making it ideal for viticulture. Many of the vineyards in this region are south facing to allow maximum sun exposure, helping ripen the grapes. There are several different red grape varieties grown in the region including Pinot Noir, Rondo and Regent, as well as white varieties such as, Chardonnay, Bacchus, Phoenix, Reichensteiner and the popular Seyval Blanc. As with all other wines produced in England or Wales, wines in Hampshire are labelled either UK Table Wine, English Table Wine, however if it contains a hybrid grape, then it may be labelled, Regional Counties wine.
