Kent
Wines in Kent have been gaining quite a reputation internationally as being amongst some of the best in the world, and it is home to several award-winning white, red and sparkling wines. Kent now has 42 vineyards covering 356 acres. Grape varieties planted in the 70’s have now been replaced by varieties that produce better quality wines, for example Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Bacchus and Ortega. Biddenden Vineyard - one of the oldest commercial vineyards in Kent - grows and produces both wine and apple cider at its on-site winery. Just a short distance away, Bacchus, Reichensteiner and Schoenburger grapes are grown alongside Dornfelder and Rondo at the 25 acre vineyard at Sandhurst.
