Las Violetas
Las Violetas is situated in the south of Uruguay approximately 40km inland from Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. The climate of the region is heavily influenced by the River Plate and the Atlantic Ocean, with summer temperatures reaching 30-32 degrees but cooler evenings. The soil in Las Violetas is heavy black clay with a mix of calcarium that can have an effect on the fertility of the soil itself. Tannat, Merlot and Tempranillo are the main red grape varieties grown here, however the white Albarino and Chardonnay grapes tend to dominate in this region.
