USA
The first commercial vineyard and winery in the United States was established by an act of the Kentucky Legislature on November 21, 1799. The vineyard was located overlooking the Kentucky River in Jessamine County, Kentucky and was named First Vineyard by Dufour on November 5, 1798.
There are now approximately 3,000 commercial vineyards in the United States, and at least one winery in each of the 50 states. The majority of American wine production occurs on the West Coast in the states of California, Washington and Oregon. California is the largest wine producing state in the United States accounting for around 90% of total US wine production. New York, the second largest wine producing state, accounts for 3% of US wine production followed closely by Washington and then Oregon. Our selection includes wines from the Jackson Family Estate in California, and from the Hartford Family Winery in located in the Russian River area of Sonoma County who specialize in single vineyard Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and old vine Zinfandel.
