Nero d'Avola
Nero d'Avola (also known as Calabrese ) called “Black of Avola” is the most important red wine grape in Sicily, and is one of Italy’s most important indigenous varieties. It is a hearty red grape that is used in some of Sicily’s most popular wines. The vine likes hot, arid climates. Nero d’Avola can be used to produce varietal wine, can be blended with other wines, and can also be used in some Marsala blends. It produces a dark, thick and flavourful red wine.
