Malvasia
Malvasia (also known as Malvazia) is a group of wine grape varieties grown historically in the Mediterranean region and around the Balearic Islands, Madeira and Canary islands. These grapes are used to produce white (and more rarely red) table wines and dessert wines, however they canalso be used for blending. The Malvasia vine prefers to be planted on sloping terrain of well drained soils in a dry climate, however it also has a tendency to produce high yields if not kept in check. The red varieties of Malvasia make wines that are pinkish to light red colour.
