Furmint

Furmint is a variety of wine grape from the Pontian Balcania, used for white wines. Furmint is a late variety, usually ripening in the second half of October. Furmint is most widely grown in Hungary where it is used to produce dry wines, however it is also planted in Croatia and Romania. This grape has the potential to produce wines with naturally high levels of acidity derived from the phenolic compounds in the juice and the skin. Furnint shares a wide range of names with several other European varieties such as Sauvignon Vert.
