Ciliegiolo
Ciliegiolo (also known as Aleatico di Spagna, Ciliegino, Ciliegiolo di Spagna, Ciliegiuolo and Ciriegiuolo Dolc) is a variety of red wine grape from Italy, named after the Italian word for Cherry. It is a minor component of blends such as Chianti, though interest in this variety has grrown over the past few years. However, Cillegiolo is not an easy grape to grow. A medium-sized, dark purple skinned grape, Cillegiolo brings a freshness and lively character to otherwise heavy wines and provides as excellent addition to wines which otherwise would need cellaring.
