It is grown exclusively in Salenta, “The Heel of Italy”. The grapes are oval in form, producing medium-sized berries with thick skins and a black/violet colour that ripen mid-season (late September to early October). The vines are usually high yielding with a preference to be grown in calcareous and lime soils which are drought resistant. They are also well-suited to hot summers. This grape produces wines with very deep colour.
