Located in the German-speaking village of Magreid in the mountains of Alto Adige, Alois Lageder runs his domaine on a completely sustainable basis.
The vines, farmed biodynamically since 2004, enjoy a long and sunny growing season with warm days and cool nights that help to preserve the grapes’ natural aromas and acidity. Alois’ wines are finely chiselled, with real definition and immense charm too.
The natural conditions of Alto Adige are expressed in fresh, precise wines and are particularly suited to Moscato Giallo. That is due, above all, to the location of the Vogelmaier vineyard in a small side valley on Lake Caldaro, ventilated by cool downslope winds at night. As a dry wine, the grape variety develops its typical aromatics, offering a pleasing contrast between sweet aroma and fresh finish.
The grapes for this wine are crushed, pressed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Maturation lasts approximately 6 months on the lees. Fresh, clean aromas and flavours of elderflower, peaches and pears are dominant in this wine. It is medium-bodied with a dry, long lasting aftertaste.
