Cakebread Cellars make high quality wines from vineyards all over the Napa Valley. They blend a tiny amount of Semillon and Sauvignon Musque to their Sauvignon Blanc, for complexity and spice. Round and fleshy for its type, this wine shows notes of citrus, stone fruit and gooseberries.
This wine opens with delicate aromas of citrus blossom, honeydew melon, pear, flint and toasted almonds. The palate is silky with pear and citrus flavours. Refreshing acidity leads to a juicy finish, layered with toasted oak.
This supple, golden Chardonnay treats the nose to marvelously rich aromas of fresh lemon zest, ripe green apple and juicy pear, balanced by nuances of caramel and cinnamon. Upon entry, the palate overflows with multilayered flavours of ruby grapefruit, fresh pineapple and baked apple. Subtle hints of cinnamon sugar, ground clove and sweet vanilla round out the lengthy and clean finish.
