A wonderful elegant Champagne with delicate freshly baked bread and citrus aromas. The palate is crisp, fresh and complex with grapefruit, lime and subtle red berry fruit alongside the richer brioche notes.
This Champagne has a gentle golden colour and elegant aromas of citrus, toast and raspberries. The large percentage of Pinot has brought red berries and a succulent, fruit-driven core. The palate is refreshing with a touch of honey complexity and a long, fine-textured finish.
A single grape, an outstanding vintage. Our Blanc de Blancs is quite simply the combination of exceptional quality Chardonnay in an exceptionally good year, Sparkling, brilliant straw gold. Very lively with good persistent mousse. Cherry blossom, vanilla and white pepper migle with the irresistable notes of still-warm brioche. Fresh and light at first, then an explosion of mouthwatering flavours, with white peaches and citrus notes in abundance. Very long, light elegant finish.
Light, golden yellow colour with fine, long-lasting bubbles. The bouquet is lovely and fresh with fruity grape and pear hints mingling with intense notes of bread crust. Fresh and rather powerful on the palate creating a balanced overall impression with a lovely, long-lasting finish; spice bread and fruit flavours.
This is quite some Champagne and remarkable for the price. The varietal mix is equal thirds of the classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Grapes are grown only on vineyards of Premier Cru villages (you'd easily clear £30 a bottle for this privilege normally) on the Coteaux de Cumières and Hautvillers in the Marne Valley, yielding great intensity and concentration.
One expects exhilarating acidity and and citrus zing in almost any Champagne - this does these in spades - but what makes it really stand out are both the ripeness of fruit flavours and the delicate florality of the nose. Pierre Bertrand see that fruitiness as “damson and pear” while we at Exel thought more “peach and nectarine”; either way, this is one seriously fruity mouthful. Florally, the makers go with “hawthorn flower” and we are not botanically inclined to disagree. At 7g/l of dosage/residual sugar, this is a drier Brut, but the fruit ripeness adds an exciting extra sensation of sweetness. Finally, Pierre Bertrand are rightly proud of their mousse onctueuse – smooth mousse – and we concur: it makes for a truly delicious Champagne experience.
An exceptional cuvee, this `blanc de blancs` is a brilliant exercise in style. Beautifully straightforward, full and distinctive, it displays all the noble characteristics of mature Chardonnay and its incredible potential for ageing. The pale gold colour is accompanied by pale green hues, with a generous brilliant sparkle. The bouquet is perfectly balanced with a richness and distinct pastry aromas expressing full buttery notes and intense cinnamon and vanilla spiciness. In the mouth, the mature freshness stands out. Initial silky notes of candied apricots and quince lead to dried fruits, hazelnuts and almonds.
A radiant pale gold appearance with fine, persistent bubbles. Complex pastry shop aromas are followed by floral notes of lime-tree, violet and lilac, alongside blueberry and concentrated, soft dried apricots. The palate begins with a silky smooth sensation, developing into ripe fleshy apricot, melon and enticing rum pastry flavours, ending with delicate spice notes. A perfect balance of freshness and full bloom.
Delicate coral hues, with fine, persistent bubbles. Strawberry and raspberry aromas abound along with subtle white pepper, vanilla and sandalwood notes. The palate is infused with strawberry, raspberry and gooseberry, with generous floral notes. The texture recalls the freshness of delicious hibiscus syrup.
This fine, vintage 'grower Champagne' is aged for at least four years before it is ready for release, the extended time on the lees creates complex tertiary aromas of dried fruits and hazelnuts that lead to an elegant palate of citrus blossom, greengage and honey. It is a connoisseur's wine, made with hand selected premier cru grapes, delivering the ultimate expression of premium Champagne, a style that will work perfectly as a distinguished food match or sophisticated aperitif.
Pale gold in colour De Castellane's Brut 'Croix Rouge' exhibits fine and generous bubbles. The bouquet which contains fragrances of white flowers, fresh fruit compote and brioche gives the wine elegance and finesse. On the palate the aromas evoke hints of vanilla, white-fleshed fruits and gingerbread.
