More than 40 years ago, the Dubard family chose to call this land home. Since 2008, the Vignobles Dubard took on a new dimension with the arrival of the second generation, Marine & Gregory Dubard, both graduated winemakers and vineyard managers.
At Chateau La Croix Romane, the vineyards cover an area of 8.5 ha, less than 2 km from the famous Pomerol plateau. Its sandy-gravelly soil from ancient alluvium contains more or less high proportions of clay according to the plots. At the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne, the vineyards of Lalande-de-Pomerol benefit from the oceanic influence. The preponderance of watercourses, as well as the influence of the tides in these rivers has shaped a unique microclimate conducive to viticulture. The vineyards are situated on a fabulous gravelly mound containing 10% of clay soils. Manual and mechanical harvest, depending on the area.
Elimination of non-quality grapes before picking. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration (3 to 4 weeks in total) in temperature-controlled stainless vats, 12 to 18 month ageing in French oak barrels (30% are new oak).
Merlot 80%, Cabernet Franc 10% and Cabernet Sauvignon 10%.
A lovely classical model of Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, renowned for the feminity of its wines. Attractive notes of blackberries combine on the nose with oak, spices and a hint of leather. The palate, both smooth and tonic, very well-balanced focuses on fruit, with already mellow tannins.
