The Librandi family has been vineyard owners in the untouched region of Calabria for centuries, combining a distinctly contemporary approach to winemaking with a desire to preserve the viticultural heritage of the Cirò coastal region in which they’re based. Work is aimed at recovering and understanding ancient grape varieties which are, in many cases, the legacy of centuries dominated by Greek culture. You can taste the results in a range of wines that expresses the distinct character of varietals such as Greco and Gaglioppo, sourced from 230 hectares of Librandi vineyards, through fresh, clean, modern winemaking.
The vineyards are from the areas of Ciro, Ciro Marina and Crucoli, in Calabria - the ball of Italy's foot, if you will. Vines are planted on limestone and clay loam soil.
This wine is made in stainless steel tanks at low controlled temperature, with soft pressing of the grapes. This helps to preserve the fruit and the vibrancy of the wine.
Obtained from 100% Greco Bianco grapes, this wine shows the great character of the easy drinking Greco style. Crisp, food friendly, lemony with hints of apple flavours. Fresh and fruity wine with a good vibrant finish. It is excellent as an aperitif, and with fish or vegetable starters. It matches well with egg-based dishes, fish soup; crustaceans (either roasted or with sauces) and it enhances all grilled fish dishes, especially swordfish.
