Brothers Hernán and Eduardo Gras, along with partner Cristián Hartwig gave life to the Mont Gras winery in 1993, combining state of the art technology with the talent and passion of a very special group of people. With the inspiration of Hernán, who had a long winemaking trajectory in Canada, along with the entrepreneurial vision of his brother Eduardo and Cristián's pragmatic businesses view, they made a perfect combination that has converted MontGras into one of the major wine groups of Chile, with presence in the main wine regions of the country – Colchagua, Maipo and Leyda-, along with a high participation in international markets.
The grapes were selected and hand-harvested during the first two weeks of April.
The bunches of grapes were destemmed and macerated at a cool temperature of 15°C-18°C for two days. The must was then inoculated with selected yeast ready to be fermented at a maximum of 28°C-30°C, with 3 pump overs per day. The total maceration period lasted around 20 days. 75% of the wine had oak contact for 5 months.
This wine is a deep red colour with violet nuances. It has ripe red fruit aromas, plums and soft touches of vanilla that are from the ageing. It has a round and juicy mouth, with a good structure with prominent flavours of raspberries and black cherries with some hints of pepper. This is a long and elegant wine that will tempt you to enjoy another glass. This wine can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for up to 7 years.
This wine pairs well with red meat, including grilled or casseroled dishes. It is also delicious with provolone-style cheese.
