Chile is a unique, remote land, at the end of the world. Apart from being known as a paradise for producing exceptional quality wine, it’s also famous for its crystal clear skies and bright stars adorning the nights throughout the entire country. The De Gras “Star Man” reflects the magic, the sky and stars in the agricultural and winemaking cycles, giving life to wines that express the work done by the farmers who have close ties with the land. De Gras wines are easy to drink and have the distinctive MontGras seal. Their reds are round and fruity with soft tannins and well integrated oak.
Grapes were harvested and selected in the vineyards in mid-March. The clusters were destemmed and inoculated with yeast. It then ferments at a maximum temperature between 28° - 30° C. Around 10% of this wine had oak contact for 5 months, in to preserve the fruity characters of the variety.
De Gras Merlot has a brilliant and limpid colour with some purple notes. There are characteristics of ripe plums, black berries and spices with subtle notes of vanilla and toasting. It has a medium body with a soft and surrounding texture given by ripe tannins. Has a long and lingering ending with a lot of fruity notes.
This wine can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for 6 years. It’s a good match for fatty fish like salmon or sea bass. It also goes well with pork, pastas or risottos.
