Brothers Hernán and Eduardo Gras, along with partner Cristián Hartwig gave life to the Mont Gras winery in 1993, combining state of the art technology with the talent and passion of a very special group of people. With the inspiration of Hernán, who had a long winemaking trajectory in Canada, along with the entrepreneurial vision of his brother Eduardo and Cristián's pragmatic businesses view, they made a perfect combination that has converted MontGras into one of the major wine groups of Chile, with presence in the main wine regions of the country – Colchagua, Maipo and Leyda-, along with a high participation in international markets.
The grapes from are selected and hand-harvested between the last week of March and the first week of April.
The bunches of grapes were destemmed and then cold soaked for 24 hours at between 15°C and 18°C. Selected yeast was then inoculated ready for fermentation at a maximum temperature of 28°C–30°C. 70% of the wine had oak contact for 5 months.
This is a clean, ruby-red coloured wine with aromas of ripe fruit such as plums and blackberries. It is of medium body with an enveloping texture that achieves excellent balance with the fruit flavours and the notes from the ageing, such as vanilla and tobacco. This is a great representative of the variety that is well worth trying. This wine can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for 6 years.
