Allegrini Giovanni  Recioto Classico 2012 (1x50cl)

The nose is immediately bursting with fruit, followed by fresh floral notes and pepper. After prolonged ageing, the wine proffers more evolved nuances of fruit preserved in alcohol and aromatic herbs. The bursting sweetness is kept in check by acidity and tannins, creating an approachable wine of great finesse. This wine, with its unique concentration, is named after the founder of the winery, Giovanni Allegrini, who elected this as his preferred wine.

Gallio Torcolato Breganze Ale 2013 (1x 50cl)

Gallio is a family owned and run winery, located in Breganze, in the province of Vicenza near Bassano del Grappa. It was founded by Bruno Gallio, the owner and winemaker out of his passion for Torcolato. Bruno's grandfather and father also produced wine but on an even smaller scale, for family own consumption only. In the past, it was relatively common for wines to be made from grapes dried on the vine, by cutting off from the flow of sap by twisting their stems - the word 'torcolato' meaning twisted. This name has been given to modern white Recioto from Breganze, made from semi-dried Vespaiolo grapes, although the vines are no longer twisted.

The vineyards are situated in the foothills of the dolomites. Soils are volcanic-tuffaceous, providing excellent water balance, which is reflected in the wine. The total production is around 4,000 bottles per year.

The grapes were harvested by hand and put to dry partly laid on racks, partly hanging from the beams depending on the type of cluster. The natural drying process lasted two to three months, until the sugar concentration reached the desired level. The painstaking care in the selection of the clusters took a long time, but resulted in exceptional quality. After destemming, which is particularly delicate due to the long drying phase, grapes underwent a slow and gentle pressing to give the wine its characteristic softness. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks using only naturally occuring enzymes contained in the must. The wine was then clarified by cooling down in a fridge, so there was no need for mechanical filtration. The wine was bottled after ageing for a year in stainless steel tanks.

Bright amber gold in colour. This wine has perfumes of honey combined with tropical fruit, apricot, peach and citrus. On the palate it is full-bodied, elegant, delicate and clean. The high phenolic ripeness accentuates the fruit on the nose and palate. There is excellent balance between acidity and sugars, and a long fresh finish.

Vin de Constance 2013 - August 2017 Decanter review

Golden hued, deep amber in appearance. First nose is of freshly dried pineapples with hints of vanilla and roasted almonds. Heady woodspice scents intermingle with fresh mandarin, lemongrass and mango. The seamless palate is elegantly structured, with ripe tropical flavours of mango. and pineapple. Raisined Muscat flavours provide concentrated acidity and a piercing lift to the seemingly endless finish. Will mature for at least a further 20 years.
