Full, balanced and very aromatic. Depending on the vintage, the principal aromas of Gewurztraminer are lychee, rose, ginger and geranium. The Trimbach Gewurztraminer is dry and shows classic restraint, without any loss of the Gewurztraminer's exotic and spicy feature.
With its years of bottle age, this wine has taken on a medium gold colour in the glass and the nose shows complex development as the primary lychee fruit segues into beeswax and camomile. In the palate there are lush lemons and mouthfilling grapiness, tropical fruit and a hint of smoke.
This has wonderful aromas of yellow roses, fresh Turkish delight and possibly ginger. These characters follow through onto the palate and are strung together by a chalky minerality typical to the plains and a fine phenolic structure which provides a grounding for this flamboyant wine. Juicy acidity balances the off-dry style and draws the wine out to a lingering finish.
