Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, their winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of the famed old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. They took it as a challenge to create the biggest, boldest Zinfandel they had ever made. The result was authentic, structured wines with a hint of something unexpected. Something Gnarly. However, Zinfandel is not the only grape that can be Gnarly. Their winemakers select grapes from some of the best vineyards in Northern California to produce a variety of wines in the house style - big and juicy. These wines are the perfect compliment to life's bold moments.
All of the grapes are harvested in the early morning hours so that they remained cool and were delivered immediately to the winery to be pressed off the skins and into fermenters. To preserve the delicate fruit character of each varietal, the wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation nor was it oak aged.
Authentic White is a blend of tasty white varietals including Riesling, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. It is lush and juicy on the palate with aromas of pear, green apple and honeysuckle and flavors of melon, nectarine and crisp lemon zest finish.
