Grant Burge Wines was established by a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. Throughout his career, Grant has been one of the most respected and innovative forces in the Australian wine industry. Grant Burge's winemaking team is led by Chief Winemaker, Craig Stansborough. He believes attention to detail is of upmost importance when crafting beautiful Barossa wines. However, the team is blessed with fantastic fruit that requires polishing and shaping, rather than heavy-handed manipulation in the winery. Grant Burge's vineyard management is overseen by Rodney Birchmore, Viticulturist. He believes that if the right varieties are grown in the right soils, and vines are managed to produce low-to-moderate yields, the vines will produce the premium quality fruit needed to produce exceptional wines.
Daly Road Shiraz Mourvèdre combines two classic Barossa varieties of Shiraz and Mourvèdre to produce a silky-smooth intriguing blend. The wine batches of Shiraz and Mourvèdre were carefully chosen by the winemakers for their silky-smooth tannins, varietal characteristics and balance. The different grape varieties were fermented separately, followed by a short maceration on skins. Once complete the wine was matured for 16 months in French oak barrels that were predominantly between one and six years old, so the fruit characteristics were preserved.
The Daly Road Shiraz is purple with red hues and very good depth of colour. The nose carries a complexity of black forest cake, cherry, plum, vanilla and chocolate all tempered by earthy Mourvèdre aromas. The palate is layered by textured rolling gravelly tannins and dark chocolate, raspberry and black cherry fruit flavours, nicely finished with a hint of leather and a chocolate cake-like rich finish. This wine is ready to drink.
