Kaiken By Montes Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2016 (1x75cl)
Kaikenes are wild geese, native to Patagonia, that fly across the Andes between Chile and Argentina. In the same way, Montes, the Chilean winery, crossed the Andes to set up in Mendoza. Their vineyards are situated in the heart of Mendoza and further to the south in Valle de Uco.
Made with grapes from vineyards in the Agrelo zone, 60 km from the city of Mendoza and at an altitude of 950 metres above sea level. This terroir features soils composed of silt, clay, and sand.
The grapes were handpicked in March and transported in 300kg bins to avoid damaging the fruit, keeping it intact for manual selection in the cellar. The must was fermented and had a total maceration time of approximately one month. Once fermentation was complete, 40% of the wine was aged for six months in French oak barrels, after which the wine was lightly filtered prior to bottling.
The Kaiken Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is deep ruby in colour. Fresh red fruits intermingle with aromas of tobacco and spices. On the palate, the wine is soft and vibrant with a pleasant finish that reflects the fruit aromas. The long, captivating finish has great complexity and spicy notes, typical of the variety.
