The Paolo Leo winery has been in the ownership of the Leo family for many generations and has seen several changes in the fortunes of Puglia over the years. Their mission remains unchangeable; to offer consumers wines that mirror the smell, flavours and the character of Puglia.
"Fiore di vigna" is the result of concientious and passionate work both in the vineyard and the winery. The grapes are harvested and stored in 5kg boxes - they are left to dry for about 3 weeks, exposed to constant and gentle ventilation. The grape concentrates and this significantly increases the aromatic intensity and structure of the wine.
The harvest is carried out at dawn. After a short period of drying, the destemmed grapes are macerated and fermented in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 25° C for 8-10 days. Maceration with the skins lasts for 15-18 days. The wine is aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by 6 months in bottle.
This wine has an intense red garnet colour. It's aromas envelope your sense of smell and there is an intense bouquet which is also pleasantly spicy. There are hints of dried fruit and cherries in alcohol. On the palate it is round, full and ripe with a long aftertaste.
