From the Nebbiolo grape, garnet red with violet and rose aromas.  Aged in oak, it has smooth tannins and developed savoury fruit flavours.

£23.35

Bruno Rocca Barbaresco 2014 (1x75cl)

Ruby red with garnet highlights.  Intense aromas of cherries, wild black cherries and plums, with notes of rose petals, sweet wood and red pepper and hints of cocoa and spices.  A fragrant and well-balanced wine of great structure.

£40.15

Conterno Fantino Barbera Dalba Doc Vignota 2016 (1x 75cl)

A wine ruby red in appearance with cherry reflections. Elegantly scented with pleasant notes of cherry and sour cherry. Very rich extractions on the palate, persistent but simultaneously soft.

£18.50

Conterno Fantino Barolo Docg Sori Ginestra 2013 (1x 75cl)

A complex wine with classic aromas of violets with lots of figs and rich notes of leather. This is a complex wine of medium weight and with a very fine finish.

£74.25

Conterno Fantino Dolcetto Dalba Doc Bricco Bastia 2016 (1x 75cl)

Mouthwatering acid structure and agreeably soft in texture. Displays lovely cherry, berry and floral flavours, with an earthy, barnyard note. Ready to drink.

£14.90

Conterno Fantino Monprà Nebbiolo/Barbera Langhe Rosso Doc 2014 (1x 75cl)

Its deep colour is a reminder of the limited yields of the estate, while the richness of the well defined and elegant aromas tell of a perfect microclimate. All the density and extreme warmth on the palate have been perfectly assimilated by the oak and the finish is almost glossy and endless.
£29.55

E Pira Barolo Cannubi 2012 (1x 75cl)

The intense and brilliant colour perfectly showcases a very successful example of Nebbiolo. On the nose it develops richness; the initially fruity and spicy aromas envelop notes of sour cherry and raspberry, while hints of cocoa and vanilla make the bouquet even more intriguing.

£53.90

E Pira Barolo Cannubi 2013 (1x 75cl)

Since 1990, this jewel of Barolo has been run by the energetic and multi-talented Chiara Boschis, with the explicit goal of adding an aromatically elegant edge to the legendary power of these great wines. She has added vineyards in Monforte to the original estate, but the heart of E. Pira remains as it was in the days of the late Luigi Pira – just 2.5 hectares of vines in Barolo’s prized enclaves of Cannubi, Cannubi San Lorenzo, and Via Nuova. These are now managed organically, with painstaking selection and a strict eye for detail at harvest time. The winemaking uses modern techniques to maximise expression and approachability, resulting in wines that combine longevity with a benign drinkability for those who cannot wait to open them.

The intense and brilliant colour perfectly showcases a very successful example of Nebbiolo. On the nose it develops richness; the initially fruity and spicy aromas envelop notes of sour cherry and raspberry, while hints of cocoa and vanilla make the bouquet even more intriguing.

Suggestions of food matches for this wine include medallions of venison with port and cranberries; lamb chops with minted potatoes and courgette or grilled sirloin steak with anise basil butter.

Fontanafredda Barbaresco Docg Coste Rubin 2013 (1x 75cl)

Barbaresco is a wine which demands attention and respect: for its prestigious history, which is the result of hard work, but above all on account of the splendid sensations it offers in the glass. It has a brilliant garnet-red colour, while the bouquet is complex, with ethereal, spicy overtones on well-balanced wood, intense vanilla, cooked fruit and cinnamon. Its deep, velvety and well-balanced flavour lingers on the palate, confirming the long ageing process which combines lavish nature with great technical skill.
£29.13

Fontanafredda Barolo Docg 2013 (1x 75cl)

Classic dark 'tar' and perfumed 'roses' on the nose, light in colour but with great power, concentration and well balanced ripe tannins. This is a wine to match with rich foods and game dishes.
£25.41

Fontanafredda Barolo DOCG, Vigna La Rosa 2011 (1x 75cl)

The Vigna La Rosa Barolo is harmonious, well-rounded and elegant in taste; its very fine and delicate bouquet is reminiscent of faded roses and, with the ageing process, tends to acquire a pronounced earthy style but with a velvety sort of taste.

£53.35

Fontanafredda Briccotondo Barbera Piemonte Doc 2015 (1x75cl)

Deep rustic red in colour with an aromatic, spicy nose of red fruits and damsons. Medium bodied and soft, with balancing structure to the blackberry and morello cherry flavours, finishing rounded and supple with a hint of liquorice.

£11.90

Fontanafredda Marne Brune Nebbiolo Dalba Doc 2014 (1x 75cl)

Nebbiolo Marne Brune stands out for its fragrance, which is already evident in its ruby-red colour of varying intensity depending on the vintage, and is confirmed on the nose by bouquets of flowers and wild fruit, and on the palate by its strong personality and dry, nicely almond-like taste.
£17.19

G.D. Vajra Barbera Dalba 2015 (1x75cl)

A dark, crimson wine with a complex and multi-layered character. The different parcels of land bring different qualities to the wine but the blend marries them together seamlessly. Red and black berry, balsam and spiced dark fruit aromas lead onto a full and juicy palate. The characteristic acidity keeps the fruit in check in this long, elegant wine.

£17.17

G.D. Vajra Barbera Dalba Superiore 2013 (1x 75cl)

Ruby red colour with an intense perfume of plums and dark chocolate.  On the palate it has great concentration and intensity, especially on the mid-palate, with smoky, damson fruit and lovely balance between supple tannins and youthful acidity.
