The Arran distillery is dynamic, doing things the old way. They craft their spirit using traditional methods and a few chosen, pure ingredients, reviving an ancient heritage of whisky-making on the Isle of Arran. They are proud of their heritage, but make distinctively modern whiskies. The Arran distillery's whisky is made largely by hand - with the help of the eye, nose and palate. Master Distiller James MacTaggart has over 40 years experience in whisky making. He leads a team of passionate, skilled people as they nurture their spirit from barley to bottle.
The Isle of Arran Gift Pack features three miniature bottles of their most popular whiskies:
10 Year Old - This whisky's initial appearance is the colour of ripe golden barley. The initial rush of rich aromas of vanilla sweetness give way to a touch of cinnamon adding a spicy edge to the soft and sweet texture. The classic Arran citrus notes have rounded with age and reveal new depths of character against a background of sweet oak. The flavours are of sweetness, with hints of apple and citrus.
12 Year Old - The aromas of this cask strength whisky are sweet, with dried tropical fruits and toasted oak notes. The flavours show a rich side to this malt with dark chocolate and coffee beans, as well as orange zest and roasted almonds when water is added.
14 Year Old - This is sunset copper in colour. The aromas are dominated by dried fruits, vanilla and toffee. With a little water a salty tang appears, with caramelised fruits indicating a depth of flavour to come. On the palate there is sweetness, spice, bitter orange, charred oak, honey, apple and pears.
