Glayva Liqueur (1x 50cl)

Glayva's story begins in the docks of Leith in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1947. Ronald Morrison, a local wine and whisky merchant, wanted to create a liqueur that would warm and comfort his loyal customers, particularly during the cold Scottish winters. Based at a busy port in Leith, Morrison had access to exotic ingredients from far off lands, such as tangerines, honey and spices, which, when mixed with the Scotch malt whisky, created a surprisingly distinctive and pleasant flavour. The name Glayva was taken from the reaction of the warehouseman, Hector, who was the first to taste the liqueur after Morrison. “Gle Mhath”, he proclaimed, translated from Gaelic as “Very Good”. Since then, the recipe has never changed, and many since Hector have agreed.

The spirit is created from an exotic fusion of the finest aged Scotch malt whiskies, a carefully selected range of spices, Mediterranean tangerines, cinnamon, almonds and honey. Because of all these different ingredients, Glayva has a very distinctive and pleasant taste. Surprisingly smooth and sweet, with a hint of cinnamon and spices, it really tastes like nothing else!

Glayva tastes so good it is perfect neat, over ice or even chilled ... have you ever tried putting Glayva in your fridge or freezer? Or alternatively, warm in a heated glass? It’s the drink that brightens any occasion, so whether it’s celebrating a good day at work, a get together with friends, or just a Friday night in on the sofa, Glayva makes those little things in life that bit more special.

Old Pulteney Stroma Whisky Liqueur (1x 50cl)

Originating from the remote coastal town of Wick, Old Pulteney’s seafaring spirit runs deep within its soul. Historically, Old Pulteney Single Malt was dispatched by boat and matured in barrels surrounded by the ocean’s spray, giving the whisky its unique taste. Built in 1826, the Pulteney Distillery is rich in history. With traditional warehouses exposed to the invigorating sea air blowing in off the North Sea, Old Pulteney captures the taste of the sea in every drop of its liquid gold.

Stroma takes its name from a windswept isle situated off the rugged Caithness coast. Translating as the ‘island in the stream’, which also refers to the dangerous currents on the island’s shores, including the infamous ‘Swilkie’ whirlpool. Stroma’s lighthouse warns ships of these nearby powerful currents. Made at the distillery with award-winning Old Pulteney single malt whisky. It tastes equally well served neat, with ice or in a cocktail.

Stroma has a beautiful deep copper colour and a charming whisky aroma with notes of toffee. This fine liqueur is a careful blend of award winning malt whiskies and a mix of lighter malt whiskies. Stroma is smooth, sweet tasting and warming and, like the island itself , is packed full of robust and rugged undertones. Served neat or over ice, Old Pulteney Stroma Liqueur leaves a pleasantly warm and comforting afterglow.

Persie Herby & Aromatic Gin - Scotland (1x 50cl)

Persie Gin is the brainchild of the man behind the world’s first touring gin club, Simon Fairclough. Travelling up and down the country with a carload of over 150 gins, he was able to see first-hand which gin style scored top marks most often. But there wasn’t just one: there were three. Very quickly it became clear to Simon that three styles proved consistently most popular by a wide margin – fruity gins, savoury gins and slightly sweeter gins. So up front, he knew that Persie Gin needed to consist of a family of three expressions, so there would be something for everyone.

Secondly, top-scoring gin had more than a nice taste: it had aroma. With over 75% of flavour down to smell, aroma is the single biggest influence among tasters for liking each gin. So you could say he followed his nose. The result is Persie Gin: three distinct styles of aromatic gin created and distilled in the former Persie Hotel at the foot of Glenshee in Perthshire.

Hand-made in small batches in a bespoke, 230-litre copper pot still, the gin is distilled with pure glen water from the local hills. Each gin uses carefully chosen botanicals to evoke an emotive and comforting scent.

The Persie Herby & Aromatic gin has the aromas and flavours of fragrant herb gardens with bay trees, rosemary and basil. With Persie Gins engaging the nose first, this makes them perfect for a tonic mixer as the quinine doesn’t overwhelm it. If you are sensitive to the profile on the nose, you won’t even need garnish.

Tapatio Tequila Reposado (1x 50cl)

Don Felipe Camarena was born into a family that had distilled tequila since back in the early 1800’s. As tequila making was in his blood, he started distilling his own tequila, selecting only the ripest plants and using equipment from his family’s original distillery. Don Felipe passed the business to his son, Felipe J. Camarena Orozco, who in turn passed it on to his daughters, Lilianna and Gabriela, and to his son, Carlos, who today, as Master Distiller, maintains the standards of excellence set down by his grandfather, Don Felipe.

The agave used for Tapatio resposado are hand selected by Jimadores (specialist Mexican agave farmers) and delivered fresh to the distillery where they are hand cut and placed in the oven. The blue agave are slowly baked for four days to transform the raw material into sweet fructose sugar. Once baked, the blue agaves are crushed and pressed in a modified sugar cane mill to extract the sweet agave juice ("Mosto") which is then ready for fermentation. A selected fraction of freshly made "Mosto" is pumped into small wood fermenters to slowly ferment using a special in-house 75 year old yeast culture. Once the "Mosto" ferments into dry "Mosto Muerto" it is ready to be distilled. The Mosto Muerto goes on to be distilled in small 90-250 gallon Copper Alambiques Tequilano Pot Stills. Barely filtered to preserve mouth feel, texture and viscosity of the estate grown blue agave. Before bottling this tequila is aged in stainless steel for 6 months.

Eden Mill Distillery Hop Gin - Scotland (1 x 50cl)

Eden Mill is Scotland's original single-site brewery and distillery. So to create their award winning Hop Gin, they married both brewing and distilling skills. Hops, a core ingredient of beer, meet the distillery's gin and the result is a zesty citrus and apricot aroma. Strong, at 46% abv, with a thick, heavy, rich finish as a G&T.

Because of a balance between floral, coriander and light hoppy notes, a soft tropical fruit follows with an undercurrent of juniper. This leaves smooth, hoppy and fresh apricot notes balanced with a refreshing crisp bitterness. In essence, Hop gin leaves a 'well rounded' mouth feel that gently fades with a light hoppy character.

The main botanicals in Hop Gin are Juniper, Angelica, Coriander and Australian Galaxy Hops.

£30.00

Eden Mill Distillery Oak Gin - Scotland (1x 50cl)

As Eden Mill is Scotland's original single-site brewery and distillery, with Oak Gin, they decided to marry their brewing and distilling skills leading to the oak beer barrels meeting the distillery's gin production.

The result is a rich oak spice gin with notes of caramel, vanilla, and a touch of fudge. Warming, at 42% ABV, with a long, rich finish. Oak gin delivers a warm finish as lovely as a sipping gin/whisky; rich oak spice and brown honey toast finishing on sweet caramel, vanilla and sugarcane. The ginger really brings out the spice and woodiness of Oak gin. Sweet and rich-spiced fruits and spices (cinnamon & star anise) are evident. Soft delicate vanilla and fudge mingle with the ginger.

The key botanicals in this gin are Juniper Berries, Angelica, Coriander and Oak.
