Tamdhu Single Malt 10 Year Old (1x 70cl)

In 1897, a group of like-minded entrepreneurs came together with a shared ambition to create the best whisky in the world. No mean feat. They raised today’s equivalent of £20 million and began to make their vision a reality. The best distillery architect and engineer of the day, Charles C Doig, was enlisted. The best location by the banks of the River Spey was acquired. The most advanced techniques were chosen. In 1898 the founders secured their first precious shipment of sherry casks from the finest bodegas in Spain. Now over 100 years later, Tamdhu matures its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks. Although the casks are exceptionally rare and expensive, they wouldn't change their methods, as they believe it's the only way to create the very best single malt whisky. Although the distillery closed in 2010, in January 2012, the determination of Ian Macleod Distillers saw the Tamdhu Distillery doors open once more. Ian Macleod Distillers have returned the distillery to its former glory, using the same processes and passion for sherry maturation as the founders had before them.

Tamdhu 10 Year Old is matured exclusively in sherry oak casks, the finest in the whisky industry. They take great care to ensure every drop is as magnificent now as the founders envisioned over a century ago. Finally, 10 long years are required to allow these fine casks to do their work, giving Tamdhu its wondrous natural colour and award-winning quality.

On the nose, enjoy the softness of vanilla and sugared almonds, balanced by fresh oak and cinnamon. The palate bursts with fruit and spice – gently revealing toffee and the richness of sherry oak. The taste finishes with a touch of fresh fruit, becoming pleasantly drying – slowly unveiling the wisp of peat smoke.
