Tomintoul Distillery is located inside the picturesque Glenlivet estate, within the whisky producing region of Speyside. The distillery is named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland. Distillery Manager, Robert Fleming is a fourth generation distiller, born and bred on the Glenlivet estate. Tomintoul Distillery was built in 1964. The distillery uses traditional techniques that stretch back hundreds of years, to make their award-winning single malt, “the gentle dram”. The natural environment, fresh air and pure water all add to this uniquely smooth and mellow spirit.
Tomintoul 10 Year Old is matured in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. There is a beautiful gold colour to this whisky. The aromas include hints of citrus with honey tones and a whiff of mountain heather. The flavours are well rounded with creamy sweetness that is balanced by gently spicy oak. At the finish there is a surge of sweetness that is swiftly pursued by tingling spice.
