The 2016 vintage was awarded 90 points and Highly Recommended status by Decanter (www.decanter.com) in their July 2017 edition review of wines improving as a result of climate change or (as they term it) "New Horizons in Chile and Argentina" (see blue link below). We appreciate it is subjective, but we judge the current 2015 vintage to be of similar quality and drinkability to the 2016 reviewed, with the 2016 to come soon when the UK importers take it into stock!
Vinateros Bravos, Pais Volcanico 2016 - July 2017 Decanter review
The Itata Hills are a fantastic place with great terroir potential for making wines with special character; that shows greatly in this bottle, which, as the makers say (albeit with a little lost in translation), is a wine "full of life, vibrancy, tension, freshness and joy". Itata's wild grass, red fruits and a little bit of cassis are aromas and flavours that characterise this wine. A fresh wine, delicate, marked by fine-grained tannins that give a very unique structure and create a long, lingering ending with a distinctive mineral character due to the volcanic soils where the old vines thrive.
