Alois Lageder Gewurztraminer 2015 (1x75cl)

Located in the German-speaking village of Magreid in the mountains of Alto Adige, Alois Lageder runs his domaine on a completely sustainable basis.

The vines, farmed biodynamically since 2004, enjoy a long and sunny growing season with warm days and cool nights that help to preserve the grapes’ natural aromas and acidity. Alois’ wines are finely chiselled, with real definition and immense charm too.

This variety is one of the most popular white wines in Alto Adige. Alois Lageder's Gewürztraminer owes its character to a combination of grapes from two wine-growing areas: The warm sites around Termeno give the wine substance, body and sweetness, while the higher and cooler sites in Valle Isarco confer freshness, finesse and a fine aromatic structure.

Gently aromatic with floral rose petal and geranium notes; the palate is racy, dry and light without any heavy Gewurz oiliness and the fruit clean, citrussy and perfumed.

This wine is suitable for both Vegetarians and Vegans.

Alois Lageder Moscato Giallo Vogelmeier 2015 (1x75cl)

Located in the German-speaking village of Magreid in the mountains of Alto Adige, Alois Lageder runs his domaine on a completely sustainable basis.

The vines, farmed biodynamically since 2004, enjoy a long and sunny growing season with warm days and cool nights that help to preserve the grapes’ natural aromas and acidity. Alois’ wines are finely chiselled, with real definition and immense charm too.

The natural conditions of Alto Adige are expressed in fresh, precise wines and are particularly suited to Moscato Giallo. That is due, above all, to the location of the Vogelmaier vineyard in a small side valley on Lake Caldaro, ventilated by cool downslope winds at night. As a dry wine, the grape variety develops its typical aromatics, offering a pleasing contrast between sweet aroma and fresh finish.

The grapes for this wine are crushed, pressed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Maturation lasts approximately 6 months on the lees. Fresh, clean aromas and flavours of elderflower, peaches and pears are dominant in this wine. It is medium-bodied with a dry, long lasting aftertaste.

Alois Lageder Sauvignon Blanc 2015 (1x75cl)

Located in the German-speaking village of Magreid in the mountains of Alto Adige, Alois Lageder runs his domaine on a completely sustainable basis.

The vines, farmed biodynamically since 2004, enjoy a long and sunny growing season with warm days and cool nights that help to preserve the grapes’ natural aromas and acidity. Alois’ wines are finely chiselled, with real definition and immense charm too.

This wine is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. It is then matured on the fine lees for 4 months.

This is an ultra-fresh, elegant Sauvignon Blanc with elderflower and lemon aromas and a clean palate with zesty citrus and just-picked gooseberry notes. This wine matches particularly well with white fish eg Cod, Pollack and Dover Sole, but is also great with summer salads and goats cheese.

This wine is suitable for both Vegetarians and Vegans.

Battle Of Bosworth Chardonnay 2015 (1x75cl)

Battle of Bosworth is one of the most exciting producers from the McLaren Vale, owing its fame to a series of outstanding single-vineyard wines made from estate-grown fruit. Owner, Joch Bosworth, is regarded as a brilliant organic farmer as well as a top class winemaker, and the Bosworth vineyards are among the most beautiful we have ever seen. Joch plays down his impeccable green credentials, arguing that he is doing nothing new: ‘A lot of what we do in the vineyard is simply old-fashioned grape growing; essentially, our vineyards are run as they would have been 50 years ago before synthetic pesticides and fertilizers became available.’

A pretty little flower called the soursob is Joch’s partner in crime to combat weeds. So important is the soursob that it features on the Battle of Bosworth labels, too.

"Fancy winemaking for our Bosworth Chardonnay; pressed straight to the very best French barrels from a variety of coopers, all of them expensive. The wine goes through a natural ferment; that is we don’t seed it with any commercial yeast but rely upon the natural yeast from the vineyard to start the process. The wine stays on high solids (sur lie) which helps to add subtle textural characters. High solids means we don’t rack off the old yeast cells but allow the wine to sit there in and amongst them."

The Battle of Bosworth Chardonnay has a complex nose of hazelnut, stonefruit skins and the merest hint of shotgun. The palate shows white stone fruit and some citrus characters. It is a medium-bodied full favoured delicious wine.

£15.40

Belisario Verdicchio Di Matelica Riserva Cambrugiano 2013 (1x 75cl)

A pale gold wine, with a complex bouquet of vanilla, honey and fresh floral notes. The palate is full and rounded palate with stone fruit flavours with light touches of spiced honey and vanilla on the long finish. An elegantly structured wine with great poise and balance.
